Rosie’s Burgers, a smash burger chain known for nostalgic diner flavors, is getting ready to open a new location in Whitby at 1525 Dundas St. E.

The Whitby location is scheduled to open on April 11, 2026, and marks the latest expansion from brothers Daniel and Dustin Gelman, who founded Rosie’s in 2020, according to Insauga. On opening day, Rosie’s will give away 100 free burgers on a first-come, first-served basis starting at noon. Customers can expect classic smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, poutine, and desserts like banana pudding. The Whitby location joins other Rosie’s restaurants in Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, Hamilton, Burlington, Waterloo, and Calgary, with plans to expand to Vancouver next.

Rosie’s Burgers was inspired by the simplicity of the classic diner and a nostalgia for uncomplicated, flavorful meals. Named after the founders’ grandmother, Rosie, the chain emphasizes warm hospitality and a welcoming environment. The menu features signature smash burgers, including The Rosie, The Classic, BBQ Bacon Burger, The Party Burger, and a Veggie option, alongside chicken sandwiches, fries, onion rings, and poutine.

Dessert offerings highlight Rosie’s Banana Pudding in small and large sizes, along with milkshakes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and cookies & cream flavors. Customers can also choose from a variety of drinks, including sodas, iced tea, and water, and add dips such as Rosie’s Sauce, buttermilk ranch, BBQ, honey mustard, sweet & spicy, or gravy.

The new Whitby location will serve as a local hub for fast-casual, comfort-focused dining in Durham Region. Combos are available for all main menu items, offering a full meal with fries and a drink. This location continues the chain’s mission of delivering classic diner flavors with a modern twist while maintaining an approachable, neighborhood-friendly atmosphere.

With its combination of smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, poutine, and nostalgic desserts, Rosie’s Burgers is set to become a go-to destination for families, students, and diners looking for casual, satisfying meals in Whitby.
