The Orange County Health Care Agency conducted a routine inspection at Grinderz on March 27. The restaurant received multiple violations, resulting in a temporary closure.

Grinderz is a sports bar that serves burgers, breakfast, and brunch. The report cited the following violations:
- An employee was seen washing hands while wearing single-use gloves. Staff were instructed to discard gloves before washing hands and to wash hands before donning new gloves. The employee washed their hands again and changed gloves.
- Multiple items, including raw turkey and beef patties, eggs, tomatoes, and dressing, were held at temperatures between 50°F and 55°F in the cold-top cooler. These items had reportedly been stored for about an hour and were relocated to a functioning cooler, the report said.
- The 3-compartment sink was measured at 113°F, below the required 120°F.
- Live cockroaches were observed in multiple areas, including under the mop sink, behind equipment, below the handwash sink, near soda lines, and below the beer tap reach in cooler.
- The report noted that sanitizer test strips had expired and were unusable.

- The cold-top cooler was malfunctioning, with elevated temperatures, a condenser leak, and no thermometer, according to the report.
- The soda machine had leaks, resulting in liquid buildup.
- Gaps were observed in walls, floors, and around fixtures, along with damaged weather stripping.
- Debris and buildup were observed on floors, including under sinks, coolers, and storage areas.
- The report noted chipping paint and residue on walls in multiple areas.

Follow-up Inspection

According to the report, the facility was closed due to cockroach activity and had its permit suspended. The report states the restaurant must address pest activity and complete a deep cleaning before requesting reinspection.
