The Macaron Shop SD, a bakery specializing in custom French macarons, is getting ready to open in San Diego at 6780 Miramar Road, Suite #110.
The company’s first brick-and-mortar location will take over the former home of Gyrogrill, according to permit filings with the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While an exact opening date has not been confirmed, owner Juliana Lopez tells Whatnow San Diego that she hopes to welcome customers in May once health permits are approved. Guests can expect a range of handmade macarons, including custom designs, seasonal flavors, and specialty macaron towers.
The Macaron Shop SD started in Lopez’s home kitchen, where she developed her custom macaron business before expanding to a retail location. The San Diego store will allow Lopez to offer a full selection of flavors and designs in a single dedicated space, including printed macarons featuring logos, photos, or phrases for special events. The bakery also partners with Hinar in East Village and Scripps Ranch for limited daily retail offerings.
The new location is part of The Macaron Shop SD’s growth strategy to provide San Diego residents with locally crafted desserts. The shop’s focus is exclusively on macarons, ensuring each batch is freshly made with precise flavors and colors. From classic options like chocolate and pistachio to more unique flavors like fruity pebbles and creme brûlée, the bakery offers something for nearly every taste preference.
Custom orders are a major part of the business, with a minimum order of four dozen macarons, and additional services include macaron towers, cones, and personalized boxes. Prices start at $42 per dozen for standard flavors, with custom-printed designs available for $52 per dozen. The bakery also offers delivery in select areas and free pickup in Lemon Grove.
“It’s been a crazy past few weeks,” the company posted on social media. “Opening a shop while still trying to operate my business and bake is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I can’t wait to show all of you the special space we have created inside. Stay tuned.”
