Florida-based taco concept Talkin’ Tacos is entering the Nashville market this year. It has filed permits for a 2,562-square-foot space at 135 Second Ave. N.
Two childhood best friends, Mo and Omar, launched the concept as a food truck in Florida in 2020 and Talkin’ Tacos now has 35 locations. Its most dominant presence is in Florida, with additional locations in North Carolina, Georgia, New York and Washington, D.C. The menu features items including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls and churros.
The brand previously ventured into franchising, but Daryl Perez, executive director of corporate and franchise operations for Talkin’ Tacos, told What Now Nashville that they have discontinued their franchise program. Bringing operations completely in-house will pave the way for the company’s future growth.
“Now that we can guarantee our consumers with consistent quality and service, we can grow,” Perez said.
The team set its sights on Nashville as an up-and-coming area for growth. Perez believes the brand, designed with nightlife in mind, will excel in the Second Avenue space.
The team is targeting July 26 for a grand opening in Nashville. Talkin’ Tacos is also looking to expand in other markets this year as well, including Florida, D.C., Atlanta and Boston. Perez said they are hoping to jump from 35 to 50 locations by the end of the year.
“We want to reach every neighborhood within the United States,” Perez said. “Our goal is to bring the Talkin’ Tacos experience to as many neighborhoods as we can. We really enjoy the kick that we get out of fulfilling our customers, building relationships with consumers, and bringing the uplifting Talkin’ Tacos experience to as many people as we can.”
