Last week, HMSHost, the global restaurateur and travel-venue dining innovator, announced that it has been awarded a 15-year contract for a new food hall that “will transform the dining experience at JAX.”
Called Oak & Ocean Food Hall, the new travel-dining spot will open in tandem with the Jacksonville International Airport’s much-anticipated Concourse B, where it will be located. Concourse B is expected to finish construction in December.
“Jacksonville Aviation Authority has transformed the passenger experience at JAX in recent years and we are proud to be a part of that journey,” Steve Johnson, President and CEO, North America, at Avolta (HMSHost’s parent company), said in a press release. “This new contract is a strong example of local partnership to deliver great dining experiences that reflect the warm, welcoming spirit of Jacksonville and make each journey memorable.”
With 5,500 square feet of space, Oak & Ocean Food Hall will “blend nationally beloved brands with the authenticity of Jacksonville originals to bring familiarity and authentic local flavor to the new concourse, bolstering HMSHost’s existing food & beverage offering throughout Concourses A and C.”
“The dining concepts in the Oak & Ocean Food Hall will offer our travelers a mixture of the national food chains they know and love with some local favorites from the Northeast Florida region,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said in the press release. “These dining options combined with a beautiful new concourse offer a welcoming atmosphere to passengers once they pass through security.”
The new food hall will feature, “self-service kiosks, dynamic digital menu boards, and QR code ordering and pay at the table will create an experience designed for ultimate ease. Frictionless self-checkout powered by cutting-edge technology will ensure speed and simplicity at every step.”
