It’s said that every dog has its day, and a popular DMV cafe is setting out to show that sometimes a great canine even has two. A year after opening its first storefront, Annandale darling Underdog Coffee & Bread is preparing to open its second location, this one in Bailey’s Crossroads, reports local media outlet Annandale Today.

The eatery will be opening at 3511-A Carlin Springs Road, in a storefront neighboring REI. Underdog’s new location will boast the same beloved menu that’s made the concept such a success in Annandale. Future regulars wondering just what, precisely, that menu will offer can look forward to premium coffee and tea drinks, both hot and iced, delectable pastries, and a range of sandwiches.

Owner Jung Kim very generously took some time to confirm Underdog’s new location with What Now DC and to express enthusiasm about the upcoming Bailey’s Crossroads opening. While a precise date has not yet been set for the opening, Kim states that the cafe is nearly ready to welcome the community, saying: “At the moment, we’re aiming to open around mid-May, though the timeline is still subject to change as we finalize preparations.”

Underdog is poised to become a neighborhood favorite, thanks to its superior cuisine, coffee, and hospitality. Kim gives locals plenty of reason to be excited about the concept, saying: “We’re really looking forward to bringing the Underdog experience to the Bailey’s Crossing community and building on the support we received in Annandale.”
