A Bellaire-based brewery is heading south to the wine destination town.
Short’s Brewing has announced their newest location is coming to Logan’s Landing at 2036 W South Airport Road in Traverse City. This is a 16,000-square-foot property the company will be turning into a mixed-use space. CEO Scott Newman-Bale told What Now Detroit the opening date will be sometime around April 2027.
Describing themselves as “Michigan’s favorite brewery,” Short’s has been serving pilsners and IPAs for 22 years. Newman-Bale, originally from England, helped create the company with founder Joe Short in late 2003, and began bottling the beers for retail in 2009. It is now among the well-known breweries in the state.
Since opening the Bellaire pub at 121 N Bridge Street, the owners have since expanded to their Elk Rapids pull barn at 211 Industrial Park Drive. Newman-Bale said they had been looking at the new property for about four months, and envisioned a new concept on the water.
The former owner of the property is Vincent Amroian of Vince’s Fine Jewelers, per a report from Detroit Free Press. Amroian will stay at the location, and the area also features Trailside Cafe. Downtown Traverse City is just north of the building.
Of their beers, the Huma IPA is one of their most popular options. Visitors of the new Logan’s Landing spot can expect most of the same beers on tap, which can be found on their website. Newman-Bale said there will also be food additions.
Short’s Brewing is in the early stages of developing the property, and more update on the opening date will be released in the coming months.
