The Kebab Shop, a booming “new school” Mediterranean chain, is embarking on bringing the Greater Houston community another great eatery. According to a recently filed permit, The Kebab Shop is setting up shop in Kingwood at 4361 Kingwood Drive.
Construction on the $375,000 project is slated to begin in July and is expected to be completed before the end of December. If all goes well with permitting and construction, the new restaurant should be open before the end of the year at the latest, beginning of 2027.
“Our journey began in downtown San Diego, where we worked alongside our team to create a ‘New-School’ Mediterranean style, combining traditional flavors, familiar ingredients, and genuine service to create memorable experiences for all,” the website reads.
Wally Sadat started The Kebab Shop with his brother-in-law in San Diego’s East Village in 2008. The family-owned fast-casual Mediterranean spot quickly grew to multiple California locations before expanding into Texas and Florida. That Texas expansion started with Austin in 2019. There are now more than 50 of The Kebab Shop locations across California, Texas, and Florida, with the family owning and operating every restaurant themselves.
Fred Rajab is the co-owner of The Kebab Shop, whom What Now Houston has spoken to about the ongoing expansion. Omar Nazihi is the VP of Operations for the brand.
The Kebab Shop menu is vast, featuring everything from wraps and bowls to plates, salads, and fries, all with a Mediterranean twist.
