A new dining concept could soon take shape in the Sierra Foothills, just southeast of Sacramento.

Local restaurateur Samir Fadel has applied for a beer and wine license at 736 Mono Way in Sonora, revealing early plans for a new concept called Divine Bistro. The space was previously home to Pinocchio’s, which relocated earlier this year to 14619 Mono Way.

Fadel’s name may sound familiar, as he’s already a fixture in the area. He owns Divine Market in Soulsbyville, as well as Columbia Market & Deli in nearby Columbia—two spots known for pairing convenience market staples with made-to-order fare.

Divine Bistro, however, is still very much in its infancy. “I don’t even know what the menu’s going to be yet,” Fadel told What Now Sacramento with a laugh, emphasizing that nothing is set in stone.

If his existing businesses are any indication, Divine Bistro will likely offer a casual, crowd-pleasing mix of comfort foods. Divine Market serves everything from breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and pizzas to burgers, gyros, and wings, while Columbia Market & Deli leans into sandwiches, Mediterranean dishes, and house-made specialties alongside a robust grocery selection.

Fadel expects to have a clearer vision for Divine Bistro in about a month, so stay tuned for more details as plans continue to develop.
