The North Carolina-based Cook Out is making its first foray into the Gulf Coast with an upcoming location in Gulfport, Miss. According to the Biloxi Sun Herald, the chain is set to take over the former Moe’s Southwest Grill location at 11464 Hwy. 49, and renovations have been underway for months. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

The new location will introduce Gulfport residents to the chain’s famously extensive menu, which ranges from burgers to North Carolina-style barbecue to over 40 flavors of milkshakes. Known for keeping late-night hours, the restaurant is expected to become a staple in Gulfport’s late-night options.

This expansion is part of a massive growth surge for the privately-owned company, which now has more than 350 locations, mostly in the Southeast. Despite its rapid rise, Cook Out has maintained its down-home reputation by skipping traditional advertising and delivery apps. As the brand expands across the Gulf South, it reportedly looks to maintain its mom-and-pop feel.
