Having just gotten new owners in July 2025, a Cuban food trailer in Baton Rouge called Elisa’s Cuban Coffee & Kitchen is now set to become a brick-and-mortar restaurant later this month at 2627 South Sherwood Forest Blvd. The upcoming restaurant will offer a much broader menu than the trailer, featuring traditional plates like slow-roasted pork, rice and beans, and crispy chicharrónes. Owners Katia Torres and Irania Viant told Louisiana First News that they took over the truck last year because it was always their dream to bring Cuban food and culture to Baton Rouge.

The restaurant’s namesake will anchor the beverage program: Cuban coffee and café con leche. The permanent location will also feature a dedicated bar area where guests can enjoy a variety of cocktails, beer, and wine. To complement the flavors, the owners have transformed the former po-boy shop into a tropical escape. The 80-seat dining room boasts vibrant Cuban decor, with warm lighting and lush faux plants meant to evoke the Caribbean island nation.

The restaurant will introduce a new breakfast service and remain open for late-night crowds, offering more flexibility than the previous truck hours. In a convenient nod to its fast-casual roots, the building also features a drive-thru window for quick coffee and meal pickups. What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.
