An intriguing new hospitality concept is getting ready to call Memphis its home. A restaurant called Aura has filed papers to open in the city, though the establishment remains a bit of a mystery.
Aura currently has a certificate of occupancy application under review with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development. Described on the form as a “Restaurant, Pub , and Event Hall”, the concept is setting up shop at 6700 Winchester Road, Suite 40. Aura will be occupying a 3,200 square foot space with an occupant load of 192.
Much remains unknown about the precise nature of Aura; the restaurant does not yet have a digital footprint and the certificate of occupancy application offers little clarification. It does, however, suggest that once all the paperwork is completed and approved, turnover time will likely be relatively swift, as it describes the scope of the project as “Tenant update for AURA MEMPHIS LLC occupying existing restaurant/event hall space. No construction or layout changes.”
The concept seems to still be in the relatively early stages. Aura Memphis filed as a Limited Liability Corporation with the Tennessee Department of State on March 2 of this year and applied for its certificate of occupancy on March 4. What Now Memphis has reached out to ownership and will update readers as details become available.
