In great news for Maryland chicken fans-though perhaps less so for Maryland chickens-another fast-casual poultry shop is planting its flag in the state. Zaxbys, helmed by the Stradford Empowerment Group, has broken ground on a new Perryville location, set to open late this year, reports Baltimore Business Journal.

The Atlanta-based chain will be making its Cecil County debut at the Chesapeake Overlook development. Once completed, the newly constructed restaurant will have seating for up to 30 diners and a dual drive-thru for meals on the go.

Keeping in mind that opening dates are always moving targets, Stradford Empowerment Group is aiming to be customer-ready by late November or early December.

Stradford Empowerment Group managing partner Damon Stinger Sr. explains that the hospitality group is deeply invested in joining the local community, saying “For us, it is five like-minded individuals who want to make life better (for others). We aren’t just opening businesses, we are becoming parts of these communities.”

Zaxbys has been feeding satisfied customers since 1990. The chain is beloved for its fingerz, wings, and zalads.
