Escapology is preparing to expand its existing Park North location in San Antonio, and the escape room entertainment concept will be located at 602 NW Loop 410, Suite 142.
Speaking with WhatNow San Antonio, the co-owner of Escapology, Thomas Hughes, confirmed the expansion, which will take over an adjacent 2,000-square-foot shell space as part of the upcoming project. He also expressed that he runs the space with the help of his wife, Whitney Hughes.
The business’s performance inspired the expansion after opening two years ago, and it is set to feature two new game rooms along with the latest Escapeology games, further enhancing customer experience and capacity for larger groups.
“So with the expansion, we get increased game capacity, and then we also get increased ability to host those larger groups,” said Thomas, who told the publication.
Thomas shared that the new facilities will cater to corporate events, birthday parties, and military groups, as they aim to address customer demand for larger gatherings. The project expansion was not easy, and he expressed that the company faced challenges along the way, including construction and permitting processes, but the opening is planned for September 2026.
While speaking on the additional game rooms at Escapology, which will introduce two additional high-tech game rooms, giving guests more immersive experiences to choose from. The businessman stated that one of the rooms would be a “haunted house” and a “crime scene,” which he said would be “tailored” to San Antonio.
He also revealed that they are currently being tested in New York, and as soon as they are done, they will be released to the franchises.
In addition to the new escape rooms, the project will also add two party rooms designed to better accommodate larger groups and events. According to Hughes, one of the spaces can also be converted into additional lobby space when needed.
“The existing lobby, the new big party room slash lobby space, and the dedicated party space can all be opened up together to create one large room where there’s space for those larger groups with no problem,” Hughes said.
According to Hughes, the upgraded spaces will allow parents and corporate groups to watch participants play escape room games live on television screens during events.
The expansion will also increase the venue’s capacity while adding more games and entertainment options for guests during parties and group gatherings.
Hughes said Escapology stands out from other entertainment concepts in the San Antonio market because it offers a more interactive, immersive experience.
Thomas noted that consumers are increasingly shifting away from more passive entertainment experiences, such as movie theatres, toward activities that encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and active participation.
“One of the big things that we really enjoy about this is it gives the family a time to connect, put down electronic devices, and just be in the moment,” Hughes said, adding that the experience creates a more meaningful and engaging form of entertainment for guests.
Hughes said the team at Escapology is excited to bring the expanded experience to the San Antonio community following the strong support the venue has already received from local guests. He shared that the company is preparing to hire additional staff as the expansion progresses.
The entrepreneur ended by expressing his gratitude for the San Antonians, adding:
“San Antonio has been very gracious to come to our facility and enjoy our games, and we hope to see San Antonio’s San Antonians back to enjoy more of our games and facility.”
