A Buckman-based cafe has plans for a third location on the city’s southwest side.

Push Pull cafe is set to take over a former Starbucks at 7737 SW Capitol Highway in Multnomah. This will be the company’s third Portland location, with an additional cafe in Seattle. Owner Christopher Hall told What Now Portland he does not have a firm opening date, but it will be later this summer.

Hall started the coffee shop in 2012 after roasting coffees out of his apartment and sharing bags with his friends. Following pop-ups around the city opened his first brick-and-mortar in 2018 at 821 SE Stark Street in Buckman, with an additional location on Market Street and now a space in Seattle’s Central District. He now owns the business with Emma Mansanti who is the beverage coordinator.

“From Portland to Seattle to our accounts nationwide, what we do and who we are is about people. Farmers planting and harvesting, roasting and brewing, and you drinking and sharing,” says the description on their website.

The three shops serve coffees as glass pours and pour overs, with coffees from regions like Ethiopia, Costa Rica and Columbia. Typical brews are also available like a mocha, macchiato, cortado and espresso.

The Starbucks was at the corner of SW Capitol Highway and SW 34th Avenue, near the neighborhood’s center. This is close to Spielman Bagels and Coffee Roasters on the north side of the road, as well as The Gibson bar and Tito’s Taquitos Multnomah Village.

As the business gets closer to opening in Multnomah, Push Pull will be updating the community on their Instagram @pushxpullcoffee.
