Mediterranean restaurant concept Fanoos Grills is preparing to open its newest San Francisco location at the end of June. In an interview with WhatNow, the business owner, Adnan Alame, said he is excited about the new opening in North Beach and that he considers expanding the brand into additional Bay Area markets in the future.
Fanoos Grills specializes in shawarma and other quick-service Mediterranean offerings designed for customers seeking fresh, convenient meals. Located on 411 Columbus Ave, San Francisco, t
he upcoming restaurant will bring the same grab-and-go concept that the brand’s first location is known for.
“We wanted to expand our concept because we found it successful in our first location,” Alameri said.
While the company is not targeting any specific demographic for expansion, Alameri shared that diversity and community food culture are considered when evaluating future locations. One area that nearly became the company’s next restaurant was Berkeley, near the University of California, Berkeley.
“I almost signed a lease there,” he said, stressing that the area’s mix of residents and students made the location stand out.
Alameri also mentioned San Jose, Santa Clara, and Hayward among the markets that have caught the company’s attention for possible future growth opportunities. Part of the appeal, he explained, is the relative lack of Mediterranean shawarma grab-and-go concepts in those communities.
