Hanasaki Sushi is planning to open its second location this year. The Santa Clarita restaurant known for its high-end sushi will take over the former Sushi Ko space at 19300 Rinaldi St., Suite G, in Porter Ranch (@whatsnewsfv spotted the expansion).

Owner Johnny Younan opened Hanasaki Sushi in Santa Clarita after the COVID-19 pandemic, marking a return for Younan into the restaurant industry after moving into the corporate space for 26 years. Younan describes the concept as having “high-end date-night sushi vibes,” which he sees as increasingly difficult to find on the sushi scene. Their success in Santa Clarita inspired the expansion to their new location.

“We went from a neighborhood sushi spot to a destination,” Younan told What Now Los Angeles. “It’s been amazing, and people have been begging us to open in the Valley. We love Porter Ranch, and this spot opened up and we jumped on it. We’re going to recreate that same concept and we’re so excited.”

The 1,700-square-foot space in Porter Ranch will feature an L-shaped sushi bar, dim lighting, and a red, black and gray color scheme. The space still needs to undergo a full renovation, and the team is aiming for a November opening.

“We want to do it right as far as the way we treat our employees and customers,” Younan said. “We want to make people feel like they have a high-end neighborhood sushi spot they can call their own.”
