Wurzbach Road Bill Miller Bar-B-Q in San Antonio is Closing This Week
The San Antonio-based BBQ chain was founded in 1950 as a small egg and poultry delivery business. William T. ‘Bill’ Miller and Ila Faye, the husband and wife duo, started the Bill Miller Bar-B-Q chain with a $500 loan. It slowly became one of the most popular BBQ chains in the state.
It gained its reputation with its traditional Texas-style barbecue. The chain focuses on serving BBQ meats, fresh pies, and breads every day. The family-run company operates more than 76 restaurants across San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi.
In an Instagram post, Bill Miller’s team shared that the chain will be closing its Wurzbach Road outpost. Final service is scheduled for May 24.
The team thanked the community for its support and wrote, “Thank you for your loyalty and patronage.” The official statement did not mention any specific reason for its sudden closure.
Huebner Road, San Antonio, Locations Remain Open
Even though the Wurzbach Road location is saying goodbye, the Bill Miller BBQ team encourages fans to visit the other two nearby locations. Bill Miller, at 388811 Huebner Rd, SATX 78240, and at 5210723 Huebner Rd, SATX 78240, will continue to serve the community.
Following the closure announcement on social media, several loyal patrons expressed their disappointment over losing the location.
“So sad, Bill Millers. The Wurzbach location is in the heart of the medical center, close to hospitals and medical offices. The convenience and comfort this location has provided for so many years will be greatly missed,” commented a fan.
The Wurzbach Road location closure of Bill Miller BBQ marks the end of a notable spot in the San Antonio dining scene.
