Firehouse Subs, the firefighter-founded sandwich brand known for its community-driven mission, is expanding its footprint in Texas with a new multi-unit franchise agreement in San Antonio.
The brand announced a development deal with a local entrepreneur and commercial real estate developer, William Ellis, who will spearhead the opening of new Firehouse Subs locations across the city, according to a press release seen by WhatNow San Antonio.
The agreement forms part of a broader plan that will contribute to more than 130 restaurants across Texas, further strengthening the brand’s presence in South Central Texas.
The first location under the new agreement is expected to open in summer 2026 and will be located at 1375 S Main St, Boerne, serving the chain’s signature hot subs and menu built around flavor, consistency, and value.
“Firehouse Subs has always been one of my favorite sandwich brands, and when I started exploring franchise opportunities, it quickly stood out because of the room it has to grow in San Antonio,” Ellis said in a press release.
“I look forward to bringing the brand to more neighborhoods across the west and north sides of the city and building something that becomes a true destination for the community,” Ellis added.
Ellis, a young entrepreneur and commercial real estate developer, transitioned into franchising after beginning his career in consulting. He identified Firehouse Subs as a strong growth opportunity, citing its brand strength and community focus through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
According to the company, the agreement supports its wider expansion strategy, which is driven by operational efficiency, innovative restaurant design, and franchisee support.
Senior Director of Franchising at Firehouse Subs, Kelly Crummer, said the following:
“We are proud to align with William Ellis, and we believe that he will make a strong impact in San Antonio. We offer entrepreneurs the opportunity to become part of a value-centric brand known for hearty food, heartfelt service, and strong operational support.”
Firehouse Subs is actively growing across the United States and Canada, with a focus on multi-unit operators and experienced franchise partners in high-potential markets. The brand continues to position itself as a scalable franchise system built on operational strength and community impact.
Firehouse Subs currently operates more than 1,400 locations worldwide and was founded in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994 by two former firefighters. The company is a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International (RBI), which also owns Burger King, Tim Hortons, and Popeyes.
