A powerhouse sports bar is getting ready to give Jonesboro residents a new place to enjoy the big games and savor some delicious bites. Construction is moving forward on Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux’s hotly anticipated arrival in the region and the restaurant is set to open before the summer’s end.

The concept is moving into 2809 E. Highland Drive, in the site previously occupied by Ryan’s Buffet. Franchisee Chris McJunkins generously made some time to speak with What Now Memphis about the process of bringing Walk-On’s to Jonesboro and what future regulars can anticipate.

He explains that he and his team were very deliberate about selecting the right location. “We’ve been building out in Arkansas since 2020, so we’ve been looking at Jonesboro for about that long and we’ve been looking for the right spot,” he says. “We’re happy with the spot-it just took us a long time to find the location we were looking for.”

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux is, as the name suggests, inspired by and invested in sports, but it also values superior cuisine. Even Jonesboro residents with no interest in athletics are certain to welcome the concept with open arms. McJunkins provides a little background on the restaurant, saying: “It’s a sports themed restaurant. It’s got American classics with some Louisiana cuisine as well. It was founded by a D-1 college walk-on basketball player. You’re gonna see a game room, some TVs, and, more than anything, some great food-not your normal sports themed restaurant food.”

Walk-On’s Jonesboro location will largely adhere to the model established across the franchise, however McJunkins states that the 6,500 square foot building will represent a newer prototype with an open floor plan. Guests with a passion for al fresco dining will be able to enjoy their meals on a semi-enclosed patio.

Walk-On’s is on track to begin greeting guests in early August.

McJunkins and his team are dedicated to bringing a memorable and special dining experience to the area. He states: “We’re excited about Jonesboro, we think it’s going to be a great site.”
