Barnes & Noble Bookseller announced that its Cumberland store will close on August 19. The closure will end the store’s 30-year presence in the community, marking the end of an era.
The store is located in a large two-story building near Cumberland Mall. It features a cafe with a wide selection of books, vinyl records, toys, and games. It also regularly hosts book-related events and author appearances.
The closure is happening because the store’s lease is ending this year. According to WSB-TV, the property was purchased by RaceTrac. The site will be transformed into a gas station and a Potbelly Sandwich Shop.

Following the closure news, customers took advantage of discounts ranging from 30% to 50%.
Soon, the bookseller had to request that patrons who were waiting in line visit the next day due to the crowd. While the Cumberland location is closing, patrons can continue visiting Barnes & Noble stores in other locations across Atlanta. But this closure has left many customers disappointed, who have shared their feelings on social media.
