A retail and gas giant is building up its presence in Montgomery County by building out a location in Gaithersburg. Sheetz, a chain that invites visitors to buy some grocery and convenience staples while they fuel up their cars, is working on its new storefront in the Walnut Hill Shopping Center, and the signage is officially up, reports local media outlet MoCo Show.

Sheetz is currently actively being erected at 16529 South Frederick Avenue. The convenience store component will span 4,959 square feet and drivers will be able to fill their tanks at one of the concept’s 12 pumping stations.

A definitive opening timeline is not yet available for Sheetz’s second Montgomery County location, however it appears that construction is on track to be completed later this summer, suggesting the establishment could be open by late in the season or early in autumn.

Sheetz has become a massive presence on the gas and retail scene since its founding in 1952. The chain now has more than 800 stores open and no plans for slowing down its growth.
