Rad Coffee is preparing to bring a new concept to Huntington Beach, according to a plan review filed with the Orange County Health Care Agency. The proposed location is planned for 18582 Beach Boulevard.

Founded in Southern California, Rad Coffee has built a loyal following through its horror-themed branding, creative specialty beverages, and strong community presence. The company currently operates multiple locations and has become known for turning coffee shops into destinations that blend pop culture, entertainment, and craft coffee.

However, founder and owner Jade Valore told WhatNow that the Huntington Beach project will take a different approach from the company’s existing cafés.

“What I can tell you is that this will be a very different kind of Rad Coffee,” Valor said. “It’s a smaller footprint concept built the way we like to do things: hands-on, DIY, and a little unconventional. No seating, no drive-thru, just great coffee and a unique experience.”

Rather than following the model of larger modern coffee shops, the concept will draw inspiration from the independent coffee scene that emerged before major chains reshaped the industry.

“Think early 1990s Seattle, when independent coffee was built out of small stands, big personalities, and a sense of community. That’s the spirit we’re chasing with this project. In a lot of ways, we’re going backwards to move the industry forward.”

The Huntington Beach location also carries personal significance for the company. According to Jade Valore, the project is being dedicated to her daughters and represents an opportunity for the brand to become part of a new community.

“The location is just a couple of miles from the beach, and this one is especially meaningful to us because it’s dedicated to our daughters.”

While an opening timeline has not yet been announced, Jade Valore said additional details, including renderings and project updates, will be shared on the company’s Instagram account as work progresses on the space.

For Huntington Beach coffee lovers, the upcoming concept promises a return to the roots of independent coffee culture, delivered with the distinctive personality that has made Rad Coffee a regional favorite.
