Located at 201 Seventh Ave N in St. Pete, Old Northeast Tavern has been closed for almost two years, and now—according to coverage published yesterday by St. Pete Rising—it’s expected to reopen at last, later this year.
The Seventh Avenue North location is a storied space.
“Over the decades, tenants included Fender’s Pharmacy, Elsie’s Market, North Shore Sundries, Nan & Lou’s Fountainette, N&L’s Restaurant, and Ambrosia, a Mediterranean fusion restaurant that occupied the space before the tavern opened in 2006,” the coverage says.
Robert Wareham, who owns the Old Northeast Tavern together with Mark Brindle, told St. Pete Rising that a few new menu items (e.g. burgers and fries) will be on the menu, along with cocktails. Otherwise, apart from some updates, the favorites are expected to return.
“Old Northeast Pizza is known for its thin-crust New Jersey-style pies, including specialty offerings such as the Del Mar, topped with crab, shrimp and smoked Gouda, and the Wild Mushroom, featuring shiitake and crimini mushrooms, prosciutto and pesto,” the coverage said.
What Now contacted Wareham on Friday to ask about the reopening. Wareham declined to comment on the news at this time.
Stay tuned for more details about the Old Northeast Tavern reopening as they become available!
