For many people, the Labubu wave may have crested and fallen, but that isn’t stopping the company behind the viral plushie from planning multiple Midtown locations. POP MART is set to open a flagship store in Times Square this summer. Furthermore, POP MART recently signed a 10-year lease for a massive retail space at 680 5th Ave. Both locations will span 7,000 square feet. According to the New York Post, the Times Square location will cost the company $2,000 per square foot. What Now New York has reached out for more information.
The opening of the Times Square location is coming just as the Labubu craze is on the rise again, this time driven by the World Cup. POP MART released a limited FIFA World Cup 2026 series, and the plushies have been selling out in stores. Sales were likely boosted by the appearance of massive Labubus during the Mexico City opening ceremonies for the World Cup.
