With a staggering number of restaurants, having expanded to more than 4,100 in the U.S. alone, Dairy Queen is a constant favorite for burgers, ice cream, and more when you’re on the go. This prodigious number includes both DQ’s full-service “Grill & Chill” locations and its primarily ice cream-focused “Treat” locations.
Now, Dairy Queen is planning to open a new restaurant in Duval County—the first new Duval DQ in 9 years—at 11031 Old St. Augustine Rd in Mandarin. There, DQ would take over a space formerly occupied by Burger King.
“City utility JEA is reviewing a service availability determination request for a Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at a converted Burger King in Mandarin,” said coverage by the Jacksonville Daily Record.
What Now confirmed the news on Thursday with franchisee Toks Achebe. What Now is awaiting an update on plans for the Mandarin DQ, so stay tuned for more details.
DQ is known for its signature Stackburgers, which come in varieties like the FlameThrower, the Cheese Deluxe, and the Backyard Bacon Ranch. And that’s alongside the Blizzard, a perennial favorite that comes in varieties like Oreo Reese’s, Peppermint Bark, Choco-Dipped Strawberry, and more.
