Located inside Mills Market at 1110 East Colonial Drive, the Michelin-recognized Kai Kai BBQ & Dumplings shines a “Spotlight on Cantonese Cooking.”

“Not sure where to begin?” says a description from the 2025 Michelin Guide. “Take one look at that case of barbecue and roasted meat tempting from just behind the counter and it becomes clear. Sold by the pound or as a meal with steamed rice and two or three selections (crispy pork, soy sauce chicken, and char siu are go-to choices), the menu also includes noodle and rice dishes, as well as an entire section devoted to dim sum.”

Kai Kai is building on its success with plans to open a new location in Minneola, where recently submitted plan review documents show “Kai Kai – Norigami” working towards an opening.

“The new restaurant will be located inside City Center Market, the food hall anchored by Crooked Can Brewery at Hills City Center in Minneola,” said coverage by Orlando Magazine published this week. “Situated at 1600 Crooked Can Loop, the more than 40,000-square-foot destination is expected to feature more than a dozen locally owned food vendors, craft beer, outdoor gathering spaces, live entertainment and family-friendly amenities.”

Behind the concept are founder Jerry and Jackie, in partnership with Bento Group, the restaurant group headed up by Jimmy and Johnny Tung.

What Now reached out to Johnny Tung on Thursday to ask about plans for the Kai Kai expansion. Tung was not immediately available for comment.

“We’ve been fortunate to have guests travel from all over to eat at Kai Kai,” Tung says in the Orlando Magazine coverage. “As we’ve grown, we’ve talked a lot about bringing Kai Kai closer to those communities. We’re excited to start bringing authentic Cantonese food across Florida.”
