Work is underway on Louisiana’s first Buc-ee’s, following a series of delays.
The project is located on Interstate 20 off of the Tarbutton Road exit and is expected to open in 2027. The development has faced several delays since it was first announced, but recent images posted on Ruston City social media indicate construction is moving forward.
Once complete, the location will become the first Buc-ee’s in Louisiana, bringing the Texas-based travel center chain to the state for the first time. The chain will be opening its first-ever locations in seven new states over the next couple of years. This will include Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Founded in 1982 by Arch Aplin III, Buc-ee’s has grown from a 3,000-square-foot convenience store in Clute, Texas, into a roadside destination known for its massive travel centers and wide selection of snacks. Buc-ee’s locations are known for their convenience stores, fresh food offerings, branded merchandise and large fueling stations.
