A new restaurant called The Historic Highland Road Grill is preparing to open in the former Sammy’s Grill space on Highland Road in Baton Rouge.
The concept comes from owner Will “Willie” Chapman, owner of Willie’s Restaurant at
11260 Coursey Blvd which opened in 2015. Chapman said he expects to receive the keys on 1 July and is targeting an October opening for the new restaurant.
The new restaurant location will be at 8635 Highland Road, inside the 8,300-square-foot space. Sammy’s Grill recently closed after serving the community for more than four decades.
Chapman told WhatNow Media Group customers can expect a unique dining experience with a focus on quality food and exceptional service. “We will serve Louisiana dishes that locals and visitors will love. The dishes will be unique to our roots.
“We chose this location because of its great history. We have many memories after ball games with family, and we are excited to share those memories with our customers,” he said.
While the menu for The Historic Highland Road Grill is still being developed, it will include crawfish. At Willie’s Restaurant, guests can choose from a mix of Louisiana seafood and comfort food, including boiled shrimp and crab legs, burgers, poboys and seafood entrees.
