Third Space Boulders is ready to bring climbing excitement and fun to the Greater Houston region. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, Third Space Boulder is expected to open in the Sugar Ridge Retail Center at 2220 Eldridge Rd.
The state permit that was filed this spring further details that construction on the new climbing gym, Third Space Boulders, is currently underway and is slated to wrap up at the end of November. If all goes well with the estimated $800,000 construction project and permitting, the new Third Space Boulders should be open by this winter.
What Now Houston reached out to Third Space Boulders owner Glady Serafin to find out more details about the exciting new opening. But, unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication. What Now also attempted to reach out to Antonette Serafin, who was listed on the permit. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from Serafin by the time this article reached publication.
“What if a place was intentionally designed to invoke your sense of discovery? Through the architecture, lighting, atmosphere, and movement,” a post on the Third Space Boulders Facebook page reads.
“In the feeling you get when you first step in the doors, or as you walk through the space and play on our boulders. We value discovery for the growth it brings, and commit to nurturing it in how our space, our climbs, and our everyday interations with our community.”
Third Space Boulders’ social media pages and website call for a fall 2026 opening. But that has yet to be confirmed.
Third Space Boulders is a neighborhood bouldering gym specifically developed by founder and local climber Serafin to bring climbing closer to the southwest Houston area. The name itself is rooted in the sociological concept of a “third place” (first place = home, second place = work). The goal of the gym’s development is to serve as an inclusive community gathering hub for locals to socialize, unplug from technology, and connect with other climbers of all skill levels, rather than purely operating as a traditional workout facility.
