AutoZone is revving up for a new Greater Houston region opening. According to a recently filed permit, the new AutoZone is expected to open in Crockett at 1150 E Loop 304.
Construction on the new AutoZone is planned to start in November and is slated to wrap up by mid-March of next year. If all goes well with the ground-up build-out of the 7,009 square-foot store and permitting, the new Greater Houston region AutoZone should open by Spring 2027.
What Now Houston briefly spoke with AutoZone franchisee Marda Lugar, who confirmed the opening but was unfortunately unable to share more information by the time of this publication.
“For more than 43 years, AutoZone has been committed to providing the best parts, prices, and customer service in the automotive aftermarket industry. We have a rich culture and history of going the Extra Mile for our customers and our community,” the AutoZone website reads.
“Today, AutoZone is the leading retailer and a leading distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories in the U.S.”
Founded by J.R. “Pitt” Hyde III in 1979 as “Auto Shack” in Forrest City, Arkansas, AutoZone revolutionized the automotive aftermarket. Hyde applied supermarket-style retail and Walmart-esque everyday low prices to auto parts—a model built on clean, brightly lit stores and excellent service. The company officially rebranded to AutoZone in 1987.
There are now more than 7,710 AutoZone locations worldwide. This extensive footprint includes more than 6,500 stores across the United States, with nearly 800 of those locations in Texas, and Houston has 83. The continued expansion in the Greater Houston market is helping to keep Houstonites in the Zone and on the road.
What Now also reached out to AutoZone Vice President of Stores, Nate Norris, to find out more about ongoing expansion plans. But we did not hear back from Norris by the time of this publication.
AutoZone is anticipated to open in Crockett at 1150 E Loop 304 early next year.
