A new restaurant is preparing to open in Sanford that will bring together the ever-popular dish shawarma with vegetarian food and other healthy choices. It’s called Shawarma Burgers, and it’s opening at 160 W Lake Mary Boulevard.
What Now confirmed news of the opening with owner Rayed Almontaser on Tuesday. Almontaser said the restaurant bears some similarity to the Shawarma Xpress concept, a restaurant with several locations in South Florida, but that Shawarma Burgers will be focusing on the eponymous shawarma burgers, plus several other dishes that may seem surprising.
“We’ll be doing crepes, acai, and smoothies. Like a lot of vegetarian restaurants,” said Almontaser.
Opening in the West Lake Mary Boulevard location, Shawarma Burgers will join a restaurant community that includes Waffle House, QDOBA Mexican Eats, Burger King, and more.
