Known as the “Best Asian Fusion Restaurant in Colonialtown North,” TaKo Cheena is a place where “Asian Street Flavor Meets Latin Comfort in Every Bite.” Currently operating as a food truck with plenty of permanent outdoor seating at 948 N Mills Ave, TaKo Cheena now appears to be working on its first brick-and-mortar restaurant.
This week, What Now came across a plan review submitted by Soytako LLC for a TaKo Cheena restaurant that would open at 932 N Mills Avenue.
That’s only a few doors down from the TaKo Cheena food truck establishment. It’s a space formerly occupied by Pop’s Pizzeria (a “Snug eatery making pizzas with meat & veggie toppings, plus calzones, stromboli & wings,” says Google Maps).
“A bold mix of Asian and Latin street flavors served with creative flair,” says a description of TaKo Cheena on the brand’s website. “From tacos and burritos to empanadas packed with Pan-Asian fillings, every dish brings a fresh twist to the familiar.”
What Now reached out on Tuesday to owner Edgardo Guzman to ask about plans for a TaKo Cheena brick-and-mortar. Guzman was not immediately available for comment.
