Local chain Volcano Steak & Sushi is planning an expansion to McDonough. Founder Quanren Lin told What Now Atlanta via email that the team is in the planning stages of a location at 193 Highway 81 W.
Manager Andy Bazer told What Now Atlanta that they view McDonough as a growing area and an ideal next step for the brand. The new restaurant will be about 7,000 to 8,000 square feet. Construction is still forthcoming and they hope to open in October 2027.
Lin is behind Volcano USA Inc., which includes multiple brands in addition to Volcano Steak & Sushi, including Okinawa Steak & Sushi in Canton and Fuji Steak & Sushi in Chattanooga, Tenn. Currently, Volcano Steak & Sushi has 10 active locations, including spots in Woodstock, Dawsonville, Acworth, Kennesaw, Alpharetta, Duluth and Hiram. There is also a spot in West Berlin, New Jersey.
Lin and the team hope to continue to expand to additional locations following the McDonough opening. However, there are no set plans for further locations for the brand, Bazer said.
