Sephora is officially joining the roster at Salem Center, 480 Center Street NE, with the mall listing the beauty giant as “Opening This Winter” on its website. The store will be a full standalone Sephora location, a meaningful upgrade for Salem shoppers who have until now had access only to the smaller Sephora at Kohl’s shop-in-shop format on Marion Street.
A full Sephora carries a significantly wider range of products, more brand exclusives, and a more immersive shopping experience than the Kohl’s partnership locations, which operate with a curated but limited selection. Salem will now have access to the complete Sephora universe. Think thousands of products across makeup, skincare, fragrance, and haircare from more than 200 brands, including exclusives like Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez, Drunk Elephant, Tatcha, Charlotte Tilbury, and the brand’s own Sephora Collection.
Salem Center itself is in the middle of a quietly significant revival. The downtown mall, which lost Macy’s in March 2025 and JCPenney before that, has been working to refill its anchor spaces and attract fresh retail energy to a property that has been a fixture of downtown Salem since 1979. Sephora landing at the center sends a clear signal that the mall is still very much in the game.
