A celebrated Somerville restaurant group is preparing to debut a new concept in Teele Square.
The team behind Spoke Wine Bar, the acclaimed Davis Square dining destination and 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist, is preparing to launch Liars Restaurant in the former True Bistro space at 1153 Broadway, according to Boston.com (via Boston Restaurant Talk).
While little has been revealed about the concept, Liars’ Instagram describes the restaurant as the “bigger baby sister” to Spoke Wine Bar—a clue that fans can likely expect the same thoughtful approach to food and drink, just on a larger scale.
Spoke Wine Bar debuted in Davis Square in 2013 and has since become one of Greater Boston’s most celebrated neighborhood restaurants. Over the years, it has earned multiple Best of Boston awards from Boston Magazine and was named a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist in the Outstanding Bar category.
The restaurant is led by owner Mary Kurth alongside co-chefs Paul Butler and Kelsey Rusch, with Katie Weismann overseeing the beverage program and media. Together, the team has built a reputation for inventive seasonal cooking, carefully curated Old World wines, and a welcoming, intimate atmosphere.
If Liars follows in Spoke’s footsteps, diners can expect a seasonally rotating menu of New England-inspired small plates, an expansive wine list, and expertly crafted cocktails.
Kurth told What Now Boston that additional details, including an opening timeline and what guests can expect from the new concept, are forthcoming. In the meantime, follow @liarsrestaurant on Instagram for renovation updates, behind-the-scenes previews, and future menu announcements.
