Back in February 2022, News4Jax reported on the closing of Willard’s Bar-B-Q Junction, a barbecue spot that had been in operation at 4610 San Juan Ave in Jacksonville for 30 years.

The closing was attributed to the challenges brought on by COVID-19.

“We’re closing now mainly because of the scarce product, the price increase in product and labor,” said co-owner James Willard in the News4Jax coverage. “Everything’s going up.”

Now, several years later, the Willards’ barbecue may be about to get a new life. This week, What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted by Renee Willard for a new food truck called simply “Willard BBQ.”

Details on the new food truck have yet to be revealed, but it appears that BBQ is back on the menu, everybody!

What Now reached out to Renee Willard on Friday to ask about plans for the reopening. Willard was not immediately available for comment.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
