Downtown Aiken to Welcome Fire Shaka–Hawaiian BBQ This Summer

The restaurant will serve Hawaiian plates, house-made sauces and island-inspired sides.

A Hawaiian-inspired concept is bringing island vibes to downtown Aiken.

Fire Shaka–Hawaiian BBQ, owned by Matt Miskelly, will debut at 126 Laurens St., according to the eatery’s Facebook page.

“This location will allow us to bring the full Fire Shaka experience to Aiken, including our first true dine-in restaurant where friends and families can gather, share a meal, and experience aloha together,” the post read.

The menu features a variety of plate combos, including the “Mini Plate” with one meat and one side, the “Lunch Plate” with two meats and two sides, and “The Big Kahuna” with three meats and three sides. 

Protein options include roasted kalua pork, barbecue beef, huli barbecue chicken, crispy pork belly and Auntie’s Fried Chicken, a Hawaiian-style dish with Korean-inspired flavors. Guests can pair their choice with sides such as Hawaiian mac salad, island greens, Spam musubi and Hawaiian rolls.

Fire Shaka–Hawaiian BBQ is also known for its lineup of house-made sauces, including Shaka Sauce, a signature teriyaki; Haole Sauce, a spicy mayo; Huli BBQ Sauce, a smoky barbecue sauce; and Chili Pepper Water, a traditional Hawaiian vinegar-based chili sauce.

Following its recent debut at Georgia’s Augusta Mall, the restaurant said the community’s “support, encouragement and love” paved the way for its expansion to Aiken.
