In news that is truly the cat’s meow, a Leesburg favorite is getting ready to open its second location. Twisted Cat Tavern will begin greeting guests in its new Lovettsville home later this month, bringing its food, drink, and cozy atmosphere to a fresh audience.

The restaurant will be serving up its fresh takes on American classics at 20 Town Square #100. The Twisted Cat team has thoroughly revamped the space that previously housed Velocity Wings to reflect the concept’s signature charm and whimsy.

Co-owner Peter Godden was kind enough to speak with What Now DC about introducing Twisted Cat to a new neighborhood and what future regulars can expect. “We fell in love with Lovettsville, it’s a beautiful town.” he says. “The location really stuck out to us-it has a beautiful patio.”

Lovettsville diners are in excellent hands with Godden and his team, who share a wealth of industry experience and are ardent about ensuring every guest leaves happy. He explains: “We love the hospitality business and this is a huge passion to us. We’ve held every position you could in this industry. We love the chaos; we love how we never know who’s going to walk in the front door.”

Service and atmosphere are hugely important to the success of any restaurant, but-of course-the food has to impress, and Twisted Cat is more than prepared to please palates and fill stomachs. Godden and his team take great pride in the eatery’s cuisine, which is all made from scratch. The Lovettsville location will not immediately offer a full menu. Godden explains: “We’re going to release a fan favorites menu. We’re not going to unload the full menu at the opening. Service and food are the biggest parts of making any restaurant flow well.”

The limited menu will be in effect for a few weeks before Twisted Cat transitions to its full range of dishes.

Godden and the Twisted Cat team are completing finishing touches on the restaurant and are in the midst of hiring. The restaurant will open its doors to welcome its first Lovettsville guests on Tuesday, July 21.

With its great food and relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, Twisted Cat is bound to become a neighborhood staple. Godden offers this summation of the restaurant’s ethos and mission, certain to inspire excitement among locals: “We want to have a nice, local tavern feel where you can come have a beer, have a burger, or watch a game. We’re a one-stop shop for a good time. Twisted Cat has a very feel-good, warm feeling to it and we’re looking forward to showing the town what we’re all about and we’re just hoping they’ll love it.”
