Grab N Geaux is planning a new Lafayette convenience store at the longtime former home of Corner Pantry.
The new store will be developed at 801 Foreman Drive, where Corner Pantry operated for 60 years before recently closing its grocery store and preparing to relocate its hot food and catering business, according to Developing Lafayette.
Plans call for the existing nearly 11,000-square-foot Corner Pantry building to be demolished to make way for the new Grab N Geaux location. The project has reportedly been in development for more than a year as the parties worked through zoning and permitting requirements.
Grab N Geaux operates convenience stores across Louisiana, offering fuel, snacks, beverages, grab-and-go food and other everyday essentials. The company has continued to expand its network of locations throughout the state.
The new store will mark another change for the Foreman Drive property, which originally opened as an A&W Drive-In in 1966 before becoming Corner Pantry in 1971.
A construction timeline and opening date for the new Grab N Geaux location have not yet been announced.
