Char is a new concept coming to Bellaire with a whole lot of flavor. The new eatery will open alongside sister concept, Ocean Palace, and is from the same team: Mamba Hospitality Group. Co-owners Keit Duong and Julie Nguyen shared with What Now Houston that the plan is to open Char at 11215 Bellaire Blvd in Spring 2027.
“We wanted to create an entirely new dining experience that complements Ocean Palace while giving guests even more options,” the Mamba Hospitality Group shared.
“By introducing Char as a separate concept within the same space, guests can continue enjoying the Ocean Palace dishes they know and love while also experiencing a new grill-focused menu, creating a unique destination that offers something for everyone.”
Char is one of Houston’s first Vietnamese dining concepts inspired by the traditional Bò 7 Món experience.
“Char will introduce an entirely new grill-focused menu featuring premium meats and flavorful grilled specialties, giving diners the flexibility to enjoy longtime Ocean Palace favorites, Char’s signature offerings, or a combination of both in one meal,” the team said.
“Featuring premium grilled meats, fresh ingredients, and interactive tabletop dining, Char invites guests to grill, wrap, and customize every bite through a modern take on a beloved Vietnamese tradition.”
Guests will still be able to enjoy many of Ocean Palace’s signature favorites, including dim sum, fresh seafood, barbecue selections, and classic Cantonese dishes. Though both eateries will operate and serve on the first floor, the two will not be connected. Char will have its own dedicated space and front doors facing Bellaire Blvd.
“The location was intentionally chosen to bring together Mamba Hospitality Group’s growing portfolio of concepts in one destination,” the Mamba Hospitality Group shared.
“With Crawfish Cafe and Pho Prime already sharing a space nearby, and Ocean Palace soon joined by Char, guests will have the opportunity to experience multiple distinct dining concepts within the same area. This creates a unique destination where guests can explore different cuisines and experiences, all built around Mamba Hospitality’s commitment to quality and memorable dining.”
Char is anticipated to open at 11215 Bellaire Blvd in Spring 2027.
