Vecina, the chef-driven Latin-inspired restaurant in Phoenix’s Arcadia neighborhood, is expanding to Scottsdale. According to the Phoenix New Times, the restaurant is expected to open its second location in late August at 8300 Hayden Road, Suite D-101, in McCormick Ranch, taking over the former Z’Tejas restaurant.
Owned by husband-and-wife team James and Raenee Fox, Vecina opened its original Phoenix location in 2019 and was named a James Beard Award semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2020.
The Scottsdale restaurant will bring the same modern American menu inspired by Latin flavors that has made the original location a local favorite. Guests can expect a rotating selection of shareable dishes featuring Latin-inspired spices, chiles and ingredients, alongside craft cocktails, wine and beer.
Current menu offerings at the Arcadia restaurant include hamachi ceviche, carnitas empanadas, mesquite grilled carne asada ribeye, pork belly tacos, skirt steak tacos and elote, with the menu rotating throughout the year based on seasonal ingredients.
The larger Scottsdale space will allow the restaurant to expand beyond its current dinner-only service. Plans call for lunch, brunch, happy hour, private dining, additional wood-fired and raw menu offerings, and a lakeside patio for guests.
The new restaurant will also feature design elements familiar to fans of the Arcadia location, including a mural by Arizona artist Tato Caraveo, wood accents, community tables, and a glass-enclosed wine room.
Additional details about the Scottsdale location are expected to be shared on Vecina’s Instagram page ahead of the opening.
