CK Market and Smoke is preparing to open at 332 SW 3rd Ave in downtown Portland, according to a liquor license application filed with the city in July. Owner Chhy Lim confirmed to What Now Portland that the store is planning to open at the end of August.
The space had been home to T and K Grocery and Deli, a corner store that served the downtown area for nearly two decades before closing. Lim said the new business has no connection to the previous owners.
CK Market and Smoke will keep the same basic convenience-store setup as its predecessor, but Lim said the shop will carry a small selection of smoke-shop items alongside typical grocery goods, rather than operating as a dedicated smoke shop. He said the store will not focus on prepared food.
The store sits in the heart of downtown Portland, just blocks from Old Town and the Burnside Bridge, an area with a steady mix of office workers, residents and visitors passing through daily. Corner markets like this one have long served as a convenience stop for people grabbing snacks, drinks, or quick essentials without needing to head to a larger grocery store.
