A new Asian fusion restaurant will join Selig Enterprises’ Buckhead development, The Block at Phipps, next year, according to a release. KAI Fusion is expected to open in a 7,000-square-foot space in the summer of 2027 on the corner of Peachtree Road.
Sam Dong, who has spent two decades in the restaurant industry, will open the new restaurant with his wife, Dia. Originally from China, Dong has training in Japanese cuisine and has worked at concepts including Green Papaya and Yume Sushi.
“We were attracted to the Buckhead neighborhood because it’s one of Atlanta’s most dynamic dining and lifestyle destinations,” Dong said in the release. “Additionally, The Block at Phipps offers outstanding visibility along Peachtree Road and is positioned at the center of it all. We’re excited to introduce a fresh dining experience that combines exceptional food, craft cocktails and a lively atmosphere.”
When KAI Fusion opens, expect to see elements of Japanese, Chinese, Thai and pan-Asian cuisine on the menu. Menu highlights will include sushi, dim sum and classic Thai dishes. There will also be a craft cocktail program to complement the menu.
The space will feature a roomy main dining room, a semi-private dining area for events, patio seating and an 18-foot sushi bar.
Julie Yang of MH Commercial represented KAI Fusion in the deal. When the restaurant opens, it will join existing tenants at the Buckhead development, including Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Publix.
“Sam’s track record of creating successful restaurant concepts is very impressive, and he brings the same thoughtful vision to KAI Fusion,” Shirley Gouffon, senior vice president at Selig Enterprises, said in the release. “The restaurant will be a significant addition to The Block at Phipps and a great complement to Buckhead’s dining scene.”
