Canadian sushi chain Sushi Taxi is preparing to make its U.S. debut with its first American location in Boca Raton.
The Quebec-based fast-casual concept recently filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a restaurant at 1928 NE Fifth Avenue. An opening date has not been announced.
Founded in 2000 in Quebec, Sushi Taxi has grown to approximately 30 locations across the Canadian province, with a mix of company-owned and franchise locations. The brand was acquired in 2022 by owner Rosanne Giguere, who has been focused on preparing the company for expansion beyond Canada. This is the first American — and Florida — location for the brand and, at the time, no other U.S. locations have been announced.
The restaurant will operate as a fast-casual concept with an emphasis on grab-and-go meals, takeout and delivery, while also offering a limited amount of seating for guests who want to dine in.
Sushi Taxi is known for its extensive menu of sushi rolls, poke bowls, sashimi, tartares, and Japanese-inspired specialties. One of its signature offerings is its large sushi platters, which range from 50 to 100 pieces and are designed for parties, picnics, barbecues, and other group gatherings.
