Shango Bistro and Wine Bar, a beloved restaurant and wine bar in Buffalo, New York, is preparing to close after nearly 21 years in business. The restaurant announced that it will serve its final meal on Saturday, August 29.
Shango Bistro and Wine Bar Says Goodbye
After more than two decades of serving the Buffalo community at 3260 Main St, the restaurant and wine bar is set to shut down permanently. Shango Bistro and Wine Bar announced the closure on Instagram, thanking its guests, employees, and vendors for their support over the years.
Customers responded to the announcement with messages recalling their experiences at the restaurant. One customer wrote “Thank you for great food and a cozy spot for a wintertime meal. And thanks for sticking with the University Heights neighborhood, it won’t be the same.”
Another customer recalled having a first date at the restaurant more than a decade ago, writing, “My wife and I had our first date at your restaurant as little grad students over a decade ago. Since then, we have gone back every year for our anniversary. Such unfortunate news. We will have to come visit one last time before closure!”
Final Brunch and Closing Date Set for August
The establishment is encouraging customers to visit during its last three weeks of service to enjoy a meal, drinks, and one last chance to reminisce about its time in Buffalo.
According to the post, Shango Bistro and Wine Bar’s final day of service is slated for Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Before closing, the restaurant will host a final brunch on Sunday, August 23.

Over the years, the establishment has served a specialized range of cuisine inspired by New Orleans. Chef Jim Guarino’s menu is complemented by a Wine Spectator-awarded wine list featuring approximately 170 bottles, along with a carefully selected beer menu.
