Chuy’s Tex-Mex Grill will take over the former Bahama Breeze restaurant at 570 Cross Creek Mall in Fayetteville, with the new location expected to open in late September. FayToday News first reported the upcoming conversion on Instagram, and a Chuy’s representative has now confirmed the plans to WhatNow Charlotte.
“We’re excited to bring Chuy’s to Fayetteville and introduce guests to our one-of-a-kind take on Tex-Mex, featuring fresh, made-from-scratch dishes, signature ‘ritas and our famous creamy jalapeño dip — all served in a fun, eclectic atmosphere,” the representative said. “We’ve received outstanding support from the city and expect to open in late September.”
The restaurant will replace Bahama Breeze, which opened at the Cross Creek Mall location in February 2024. Darden Restaurants announced in February 2026 that it would discontinue the Bahama Breeze brand, with 14 locations selected for conversion to other restaurant concepts. Fayetteville was among those locations.
According to the company’s website, Chuy’s, which was founded in Austin in 1982, focuses on made-from-scratch Tex-Mex. Its menu features dishes including fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos and queso, alongside its signature Creamy Jalapeño sauce. Chuy’s also makes its tortillas by hand and prepares its food from scratch daily.
The Fayetteville opening will add another Chuy’s location to the company’s growing footprint. Chuy’s currently operates more than 100 restaurants across 15 states, according to its careers website.
The new restaurant is expected to open in late September at 570 Cross Creek Mall. An exact opening date has not yet been announced.
