Capital One Café is expanding its presence in Charlotte with its first location in the city, planned for 1520 S. Tryon St. in South End. The café will occupy the former Elder Gallery space, according to Axios Charlotte, which reported that Capital One has signed a lease for the location.
The 10,463-square-foot space will introduce Capital One Café’s coffee shop and banking concept to the Charlotte market.
Capital One Café locations are designed as public spaces that combine coffee, food and community gathering areas with banking resources. According to Capital One’s website, its Cafés offer everyday banking assistance, free WiFi, spaces for working or meeting, financial education events and one-on-one Money & Life mentoring.
The Charlotte location is expected to include seating, food, free WiFi, and Verve Coffee Roasters beverages, along with banking tools and financial workshops, Axios Charlotte reported. Capital One cardholders will receive 50% off handcrafted beverages when paying with a Capital One card.
“Charlotte is a vibrant community, and we’re thrilled to deepen our commitment here with a new Capital One Café location,” said Jennifer Windbeck, Head of Retail Bank Channels & Operations at Capital One, in a statement provided directly to WhatNow Charlotte. “Building on our recently opened Café in Durham and office space in Charlotte, these investments reflect Capital One’s promise to create meaningful experiences for customers in one of the nation’s fastest-growing business and banking markets.”
Windbeck said the Capital One Café model is intended to create community hubs where visitors can access financial tools, connect with their neighbors and build confidence in their financial lives.
The new café follows Capital One’s recent expansion in Charlotte. The company opened a corporate office in South End and has also announced plans for a lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Capital One also operates a Café in Durham.
Capital One has not announced an opening date for the South End location. Axios Charlotte reported that the timeline remains to be determined.
