Gaithersburg residents, get ready to tackle those home improvement projects. Home Depot is signed on as one of three powerhouse tenants to help launch the Lakeforest Mall redevelopment, reports Washington Business Journal.
Home Depot will be gaining a sprawling 140,000 square foot storefront once the 701 Russell Avenue mall has been full and entirely removed from the lot. The demolition of the structure was recently completed and now crews are working to remove the parking lot, followed by unearthing underground structures.
While an opening timeline is not presently available, there are still several steps between now and Home Depot being customer ready. The store will be a part of a very thorough redevelopment of the Lakeforest Mall, including the addition of housing, suggesting Home Depot will never want for customers.
Home Depot is one of three concepts signed on to launch the redevelopment, joining Landmark Theatres and Sprouts Farmers Market.
