Oishii is bringing its premium strawberries and other products to New York City. The shop will open at Chelsea Market this month. It will give customers a chance to experience the brand outside of traditional grocery stores.
Oishii is Opening a Shop at Chelsea Market
Oishii is opening its first shop in New York on August 20. According to a Time Out New York, the shop will be a kiosk located on Chelsea Market’s Main Concourse. The shop will focus on Oishii’s strawberries inspired by Japanese varieties, along with related products.
Oishii is a U.S.-based agricultural technology company that grows premium fruits using indoor vertical farming. It focuses on high-flavor strawberries inspired by Japanese varieties rather than commodity produce. It first became popular for its Omakase Berry, a premium strawberry variety known for its aroma, sweetness, and texture.
The company uses controlled-environment agriculture systems. This allows the fruit to be grown year-round inside large indoor farms instead of relying on weather. Oishii’s farms also use bees for natural pollination, alongside robotics and automation for monitoring and harvesting.
Oishii products are also sold at Whole Foods Market locations in New York City. This opening will give the company a dedicated space to showcase its products directly to customers.
